The Israeli Army has deployed an additional division to southern Lebanon, expanding its ground offensive alongside ongoing airstrikes and artillery attacks. Several divisions are now operating in the area as Israel increases its military presence.

The stated goal is to strengthen border security and push fighters from Hezbollah further away from northern Israel, particularly beyond the Litani River. Israeli sources say the army is also targeting sites it believes are used for military purposes in border villages.

The operation is described as more complex than in Gaza due to Lebanon’s rugged terrain, which makes ground movements and control more difficult. Reports suggest Israel is considering a longer-term plan to maintain control over some border areas even after the broader conflict ends.

Fighting has continued despite a previous ceasefire, with clashes escalating after a cross-border attack earlier in March. The violence has taken a heavy toll, with Lebanese authorities reporting nearly 1,500 deaths and thousands injured since the escalation began.

As military activity intensifies, concerns are growing about the humanitarian impact and the risk of a wider regional conflict.
