While pensioners are planned to stay in dormitories for 7 days between July 15 and August 15, KYK dormitories in Turkey’s most popular holiday cities Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, İzmir and Muğla have come under scrutiny.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced in a statement that suitable dormitories within the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) will host pensioners free of charge for a one-month period this summer.
Millions of pensioners will be able to have a free holiday in the popular tourism centers of the Mediterranean and Aegean, and will benefit from up to 15 percent discount on shopping with special cards.
In this context, the most preferred holiday resorts in the Mediterranean and Aegean will open their doors to millions of pensioners free of charge. In addition to enjoying the sea, sand and sun, retirees will also have the chance to see cultural and historical riches on site. Details such as whether all provinces will be included in this scope, how many bed capacities can be included in the system, and whether priority will be given to non-working retirees will be determined and announced shortly.
While retirees are planned to stay in dormitories for 7 days between July 15 and August 15, the KYK dormitories in Turkey’s most popular holiday cities Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, İzmir and Muğla were examined. In these 5 cities, there are 62 KYK dormitories with a total capacity of approximately 65 thousand beds.
In which cities accommodation will be possible
A significant number of these are located in seaside nature and holiday resorts such as Alanya, Çeşme, Fethiye, Ayvalık, Kuşadası. All or some of the KYK dormitories in touristic districts such as Fethiye, Ortaca, Milas in Muğla, central, Alanya, Manavgat, Kumluca, Gazipaşa, Serik in Antalya, Kuşadası in Aydın, Çeşme, Urla, Bergama, Bergama, Bayındır in İzmir, Bandırma, Burhaniye, Manyas, Ayvalık, Gönen in Balıkesir will most likely host pensioners for a month this summer.
Compared to the accommodation in hotels in holiday resorts, pensioners have been allocated a vacation budget worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of TL.
The price of accommodation per person per night in Çeşme in the middle of the season varies between 3 thousand and 20 thousand TL depending on the quality and star of the facility. These figures do not fall below 4 digits in other mentioned holiday destinations, and it is noteworthy that there are many 5-digit figures.
On the other hand, in the card application to be implemented for pensioners, work is ongoing for chain markets and clothing markets.
Retired citizens will be able to shop with a 5-15 percent discount from pharmacies, markets and clothing stores that will be included in the system with a Troy-enabled physical card.
