Bad luck for Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese defender, whose contract with Al Hilal runs until June 2026, will not be able to play for the Riyadh club in the new season.
Although the termination of Neymar’s contract has recently been discussed, the Brazilian, who is currently injured and will be unavailable until January 2025, is still considered part of Al Hilal’s plans. Since the Saudi capital can only register 10 foreign players for the championship, they were forced to choose between Neymar and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Al Hilal opted for the former Paris Saint-Germain player by effectively sidelining the Senegalese, who was deemed to have underperformed.
As a result, the former Napoli defender will either be loaned out or sold by the club.
