Kenya has lifted the ban on raw macadamia nut exports, implemented earlier this month, granting a 30-day window for sales and exports.

Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Andrew Karanja, announced that officials from the Agriculture and Food Authority had identified macadamia nut stocks held by some licensed processors and exporters.

Speaking in Nairobi, Karanja stated, “The intervention will ensure the clearance of verified stocks held by various exporters for export.” He added that the export of raw (in-shell) macadamia nuts would be allowed for 30 days.

According to the World Macadamia Organization, Kenya ranks as one of the largest exporters of in-shell and kernel macadamia, following South Africa and Australia.
