The first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year in Türkiye will end on Friday, with approximately 18 million students in preschool, primary, middle and high schools receiving their report cards and starting the midterm break.
As part of the “Türkiye Century Education Model,” the Ministry of National Education will issue “development reports” instead of traditional report cards for first and second grade primary school students. These reports focus on students’ social and emotional learning skills and aim to better track their progress, strengths and areas in need of support.
Schools also continued the “End-of-Term Culture, Arts and Sports Activities Week,” which was introduced last year to encourage students’ participation in cultural, artistic, scientific and athletic activities. Under the theme “Family and Play,” students took part in reading, language, science, art, sports and social responsibility events throughout the week.
As part of the “Türkiye Greets” campaign, students went out into streets and shops with their teachers, greeting citizens and shopkeepers and sharing messages of goodwill.
The midterm break will run from Monday, Jan. 19, to Friday, Jan. 30. The second semester will begin on Monday, Feb. 2, with a midterm recess scheduled for March 16–20. The 2025–2026 academic year will conclude on June 26.
