The death of American influencer Ashly Robinson in Zanzibar has triggered an ongoing investigation, with authorities seeking to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
Robinson, 31, was found unconscious in a villa and later died in hospital after being rushed for emergency care. Her partner, Joe McCann, is currently cooperating with police as a witness, while his passport has been temporarily withheld. No arrests have been made so far.
Officials say they are awaiting the results of a medical examination before determining the cause of death. Initial suggestions by police that the case could involve a suicide attempt remain unconfirmed, leaving the situation unclear.

According to preliminary findings, hotel staff alerted authorities after noticing unusual circumstances. Investigators indicated that the couple had reportedly been involved in a disagreement and were placed in separate rooms, though the hotel has not officially confirmed these details, citing privacy and the ongoing inquiry.
The victim’s family has expressed confusion and concern, stating that the events “do not make sense” and that they received limited information following the incident. They noted that Robinson had recently celebrated her birthday and had become engaged during the trip.
The United States Department of State has confirmed her death and is providing support to her family. Meanwhile, tributes continue to emerge online, as the case remains under investigation and many questions remain unanswered.
