South Korea and Japan announced that North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan on Wednesday, according to official statements from both governments.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile was launched at around 8:00 a.m. local time in the direction of the Sea of Japan. The test was detected by South Korean military surveillance systems, and authorities are continuing to analyze the missile’s type and flight characteristics.

Japan’s Ministry of Defense said it is believed the missile fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, adding that no damage or injuries have been reported.

The latest launch follows a previous ballistic missile test conducted by North Korea toward the same area on November 7.

Officials in Seoul and Tokyo strongly condemned the launch, stating that it violates United Nations Security Council resolutions and increases regional tensions. Both countries said they remain in close coordination with their allies while monitoring further developments.
