Pro-Palestinian activists in Berlin blocked access to a facility owned by German defense company Rheinmetall on Thursday, protesting its alleged role in supplying ammunition connected to the war in Gaza.
The protest took place in the Wedding district, where members of a group called Peacefully Against Genocide staged a sit-in at the entrance of the site. Some activists glued their hands to the ground, temporarily preventing vehicles from entering or leaving the facility.
The group displayed banners reading “No profit from genocide” and showed images of destruction in Gaza and Lebanon. Police later intervened, using solvents to remove the protesters’ hands before detaining them.
Activists claim that Rheinmetall is already producing ammunition used by Israel and is preparing to expand production. They argue that this makes Germany indirectly responsible for civilian deaths in the conflict.
Spokesperson Laila Fuisz said the company and the German state are “complicit,” calling for an immediate halt to arms exports. Another activist, Bedia Ozakyol, said she was motivated by concern for children affected by the war.
The group says it plans further protests targeting both the Berlin facility and German weapons exports.
The demonstration highlights growing public tension in Europe over arms trade policies linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
