Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and Badr Abdelatty, the foreign minister of Egypt, have called for reducing tensions in the Middle East and prioritising diplomacy to end the ongoing war in the region.

The appeal came during a meeting in Doha on Sunday, according to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, as Abdelatty began a Gulf tour focused on discussing the escalating regional situation.

Both sides reviewed the current military escalation and warned that the conflict could spread further if diplomatic efforts are not intensified. They stressed that dialogue and political solutions must take precedence over military action.

Officials also emphasised that a military solution would not effectively resolve the crisis and could push the region toward broader instability.

Regional tensions have intensified since attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran on February 28. Iranian authorities say the strikes killed more than 1,200 people, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has since launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as locations in Jordan, Iraq and several Gulf states hosting US military facilities.
