Over 100 thousand packs of bread were recalled in Japan due to the detection of mouse remains.
The Japan-based company PASCO Shikishima initiated an urgent recall after black mouse remains were detected in some packages of Chojuku sliced bread.
Company officials stated that so far, no signs of illness have been observed in anyone who consumed these breads, while over 100 thousand packages have been recalled for examination.
“We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers.
We will strengthen our quality management systems to prevent such incidents from happening again.”
According to Japan’s state broadcaster NHK, production at the PASCO plant in Tokyo has been suspended due to the ongoing investigation.
Chojuku bread produced by Nagoya-based PASCO Shikishima is sold in many grocery stores across Japan and the company’s products are also exported to the US and China.
