Russia has said it is ready—and already acting—to help mediate ongoing tensions in the Middle East, particularly those involving Iran.
According to diplomat Vladimir Safronkov, Moscow is in “almost daily” contact with all sides and is pushing for a political solution instead of continued military confrontation. He stressed that past attempts to solve regional conflicts by force have only made things worse.
Russia also expressed support for mediation efforts by Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan, highlighting the need for cooperation to reduce tensions.
Safronkov warned that the conflict—especially in the Persian Gulf—is negatively affecting the broader region, including the situation in Gaza, and risks deepening instability.
He also mentioned that a possible Russian-Arab summit is being discussed, which could create another platform for dialogue.
On diplomacy efforts, Safronkov said that peace proposals linked to Donald Trump still matter, as they helped reduce intense fighting at one stage, even though ceasefire violations continue and key parts of the plan remain unfulfilled.
Regarding the Abraham Accords, he warned that such agreements should promote unity rather than division, otherwise they could lead to more confrontation in the future.
Overall, Russia’s message is clear: dialogue and cooperation—not military force—are the only sustainable path to stability in the Middle East.
