The Istanbul Governor’s Office has issued an official warning stating that storm conditions are expected over the Marmara Sea beginning from midday today.
According to the statement, winds will blow from the south and southwest at speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, occasionally reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour. In the evening hours, the wind direction is forecast to shift to the north and northeast while maintaining storm-level intensity.
Authorities noted that the storm is expected to have noticeable effects on land as well, potentially causing disruptions to sea transportation, traffic, and coastal operations.
The storm is forecast to weaken during the early hours of December 31. Residents, fishermen, and maritime operators have been urged to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures against possible risks such as falling objects, strong gusts, high waves, and transportation delays.
The Governor’s Office advised the public to follow official updates and avoid unnecessary travel or maritime activities during the storm period.
