U.S. President Donald Trump has said the only outcome he will accept in the ongoing conflict with Iran is “unconditional surrender.” Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that there would be no negotiations or deal unless Iran fully surrenders.
Trump added that after such a surrender, the United States, its allies, and partners would help rebuild Iran’s economy and guide the country toward a new leadership. In interviews, he suggested that the next Iranian leader could even be a religious figure if that person is fair and cooperative with the United States and its allies.
The conflict escalated after the United States and Israel launched large-scale military strikes inside Iran. The attacks reportedly killed more than 1,000 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior military officials, and many civilians.
Iran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military bases, diplomatic facilities, and several Israeli cities. The retaliation has intensified tensions across the Middle East.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Iran had misjudged Washington’s ability to sustain the military campaign. He insisted the United States has enough weapons and resources to continue operations for as long as necessary to achieve its objectives.
The situation remains highly volatile, with ongoing strikes and counterattacks raising fears that the conflict could spread further across the region.
