The Turkish embassy in Libya has mourned the death of the head of Libya’s armed forces, Mohammed al-Haddad, who died in a plane crash alongside several senior military officials while returning from an official visit to Türkiye.
Those killed alongside al-Haddad include the chief of staff of the land forces, the head of the military manufacturing authority, an adviser to the army chief and a media office photographer.
In a statement, the Turkish embassy said that it was deeply saddened by the deaths.
“We pray to God for mercy upon the deceased and offer our condolences and prayers for strength to the National Unity Government, all the people of Libya, their families and comrades-in-arms,” the statement said.
The wreckage of the Falcon 50 aircraft was located by Turkish security personnel in the Haymana district near Ankara, according to the Turkish interior ministry.
