Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held a series of high-level phone calls with counterparts from Syria, Qatar, and Uzbekistan as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to halt the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

According to diplomatic sources, Fidan spoke with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al Shaibani, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The discussions focused on the trajectory of the war and potential steps to bring an end to hostilities.

The conflict, which began on February 28 following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, has since expanded across the region. Tehran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and several countries hosting US military assets, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.

Fidan’s latest diplomatic outreach reflects Türkiye’s growing role as a mediator, as Ankara seeks to coordinate regional and international efforts to prevent further escalation.

In recent weeks, the Turkish foreign minister has engaged in extensive consultations with key actors, including Iran, the United States, and the European Union, underscoring a sustained push to revive dialogue and restore stability in the region.
