Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tripoli, Guven Begec, visited Libya’s senior leadership to convey condolences after a plane crash in the Turkish capital Ankara resulted in the deaths of eight people, including Libya’s army chief Mohammad Ali Ahmad al-Haddad.

During the visit, Ambassador Begec met with Mohamed Menfi, the head of Libya’s Presidency Council, and Salah Al-Namroush, acting Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army. The ambassador expressed Türkiye’s sympathy over the loss of life and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

Libyan officials thanked the Turkish side for the gesture, noting that such diplomatic engagements contribute to maintaining dialogue and mutual respect between the two countries.

The visit was described as part of ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian contacts between Türkiye and Libya following the incident in Ankara.
