Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdogan has issued a strong call for collective action on water conservation, emphasizing that water scarcity has evolved into a critical issue affecting national security, food supply, and long-term sustainability.
Marking World Water Day, she highlighted the increasing global risks linked to diminishing freshwater resources and urged citizens to adopt more responsible water usage habits. Stressing the importance of unity, she noted that coordinated efforts and shared awareness can help prevent Türkiye from facing severe water shortages.
Erdogan also appealed to all segments of society to embrace water efficiency as a collective responsibility, encouraging a nationwide mobilisation grounded in respect for natural resources and commitment to future generations.
World Water Day, observed annually on March 22 under the leadership of the United Nations, aims to promote sustainable water management and raise awareness about the importance of freshwater worldwide.
