The Pentagon has reached a long-term agreement with Boeing and Lockheed Martin to significantly increase the production of key missile components.
The seven-year deal focuses on tripling the output of “seekers,” a critical part used in advanced missile systems like the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement. These systems play an important role in air and missile defense.
The move is part of a broader push by President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to strengthen the country’s defense industry. Their strategy, described as building an “Arsenal of Freedom,” aims to ensure the US can quickly produce large quantities of military equipment when needed.
Officials say the goal is to modernize production by working more closely with key suppliers, making the entire defense supply chain faster and more reliable.
In simple terms, the US wants to be able to build more advanced weapons, more quickly, in response to growing global security challenges.
