Algeria and Serbia have signed a series of cooperation agreements covering key sectors including culture, finance, tourism, and telecommunications, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral relations.
The agreements were concluded during an official visit to Algiers by Duro Macut, who held talks with his Algerian counterpart Sifi Ghrieb. Both leaders reviewed existing cooperation and explored new avenues to boost trade, investment, and economic collaboration.
Macut emphasized Serbia’s “strong political will” to reinforce ties, highlighting the shared historical legacy between the two nations dating back to Algeria’s independence struggle. He also stressed the importance of activating bilateral mechanisms, particularly the joint cooperation commission, to translate agreements into concrete projects.
Ghrieb, for his part, underscored the need to elevate economic exchanges, noting that current trade levels remain below the potential of both countries. He encouraged Serbian investors to seize emerging opportunities in Algeria, supported by ongoing economic reforms and a favorable investment climate.
On the international stage, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to international law, state sovereignty, and the principles of the United Nations as essential foundations for global peace and stability.
