Sergey Lavrov said Russia is ready to help Libya rebuild unity and achieve national reconciliation after meeting with Taher Al-Baour in Moscow.
The discussions focused on strengthening relations between the two countries and restarting cooperation that had slowed down in recent years. Libyan officials said they are looking to revive old agreements and possibly sign new ones, especially in economic areas.
A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to restart the joint Russia-Libya Intergovernmental Commission. This body will help coordinate projects and support Russian companies that want to return to or invest in Libya’s economy.
In simple terms, both sides are trying to rebuild their partnership while also supporting Libya’s stability after years of internal conflict.
Lavrov also commented on global issues, saying that if the United States and Iran reach a deal similar to the 2015 nuclear agreement, it would be a major step forward for international stability.
Overall, the talks show Russia’s interest in playing a bigger role in Libya’s recovery and in broader diplomatic efforts around the world.
