Cornelius Annor’s art feels like a nostalgic journey down memory lane. The mixed-media artist draws inspiration from memories of growing up in 1990s Ghana.

Most art lovers, when looking at his works, are reminded of the comfort and sense of security that come with strong family bonds, as well as the importance of spending quality time with loved ones.

“I draw my inspiration from family photo albums,” the Ghanaian artist told TRT Africa. “My painting references usually come from my immediate family members or the people I choose to have around me because they are like family to me.”

According to the Institute of Art Integration, mixed media is a form of visual art that combines multiple media or materials.

This can take many forms, but the three most common are collages, assemblages, and sculptures. Many mixed-media artworks incorporate various materials such as paint, fabric, paper, and found objects.
