Pakistan and Iran are strengthening diplomatic coordination as tensions in the region continue, with both sides emphasizing dialogue over conflict.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, discussing the evolving regional situation and ongoing peace efforts. The call lasted about 50 minutes and focused on recent diplomatic initiatives.
Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator, especially in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States. He welcomed Iran’s continued engagement, including the visit of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who recently held meetings in Islamabad.
In response, Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan’s leadership—including military and diplomatic officials—for helping push peace efforts forward. Both leaders agreed to stay in close contact and continue working together to stabilize the region.
These discussions come as Pakistan tries to revive stalled negotiations between Iran and the U.S. The first round of talks, held earlier in Islamabad, did not produce a final agreement, but ongoing meetings are seen as a step toward restarting dialogue.
