The Pentagon has unveiled new details of Donald Trump’s proposed $1.5 trillion defense budget for 2027, marking one of the largest military spending increases in modern history.
A key highlight is the development of a new missile defense system called the “Golden Dome,” designed to protect against advanced threats through layered detection and interception technologies.
The plan also includes a major boost in aircraft investment, with about $102 billion allocated for aviation programs. This includes increasing the number of F-35 Lightning II jets to 85 units, alongside expanded production of the F-15EX Eagle II.
Another major focus is drone warfare. Officials say the budget represents the largest investment ever in drones and counter-drone systems, reflecting how modern conflicts are increasingly shaped by unmanned technology.
The proposal includes tens of billions of dollars for autonomous drone platforms, advanced munitions, and systems like the MQ-25 Stingray, aimed at strengthening battlefield logistics and air operations.
According to defense officials, the overall goal is to modernize the military, improve readiness, and maintain technological superiority in an increasingly complex global security environment.
