Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, welcomed a delegation from Niger’s Peasant Platform (PFPN), led by its president, Djibo Bagna.

Speaking after the meeting, Djibo Bagna explained that the delegation visited the Prime Minister to present the details of the Land Policy Forum, scheduled to take place from November 28 to 30 in Dosso. Bagna stated that the forum aims to bring together regional and local representatives, traditional leaders, technical experts, and farmers’ and pastoralists’ organizations to develop an inclusive vision.

Bagna emphasized that the work conducted within the framework of the land policy has identified challenges through consultations with various stakeholders. The forum will focus on clarifying the roles of all parties to “implement a conflict-free approach to preserving agricultural production areas.”

Despite the current security challenges in Niger, Bagna highlighted that farmers and herders continue to fight for a dignified livelihood around natural resources. He added that the forum aims to foster peace and collaboration among these groups. At the end of the event, roadmaps proposed by experts and leaders will be submitted to the authorities.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Colonel Mahaman Elhadj Ousmane, along with ministerial advisers and relevant department directors.
