US President Donald Trump said he is not ready to reach an agreement with Iran to end the widening regional conflict, stating that the proposed terms are “not good enough yet.”

In an interview with NBC News, Trump said Iran wants a deal but indicated that any agreement would likely require Tehran to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

The president also reacted to Iran’s retaliation following US–Israeli strikes, expressing surprise at Tehran’s attacks on other countries in the region. He claimed that American strikes on Kharg Island had “totally demolished” most of the island’s military facilities.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said several countries may join the United States in deploying warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz open amid tensions over Iran’s threats to disrupt shipping.

He named China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom as possible participants in the maritime effort.

Trump also said it remains unclear whether Iran has deployed naval mines in the strategic waterway but indicated that the US would carry out extensive operations to secure the strait, which is one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
